ok. this really isn't a philosophy, but how is just as important as why, right?

the first stage of any project is an initial client meeting. we discuss the client's needs, budget and timetable. the primary goal is to determine what theming, programming, and creative direction the project will take.

after reviewing our notes, basic storyboards are often produced. these give the client a clear sense of what will be developed. depending on budget, these can be rough sketches or more involved, polished layouts.

for a website, this is where decisions about content and navigation begin.

for presentations or CD-ROM projects, we move from the storyboards to drafting and revising a narration script.

typically, presentation audio is recorded at the client's office location. we use mini-disc digital recording equipment, which provides for the best possible sound quality.

multiple takes are the key; later when we master the narration we have the opportunity to select the very best phrases and edit them together to form a smooth whole.

the audio is later imported into flash and exported as mp3.

we have a large library of stock photography. but for projects that require more personal branding, we often combine the recording session with a short digital photoshoot at the client's location.

only once all the source materials, audio elements and photos are ready do we proceed with the actual flash presentation timeline work.

the animation is based on the intial storyboards, but we remain open to incorporating new ideas as well. sometimes the best visions appear only while actually developing in flash; it pays to remain flexible. multiple drafts are produced, as the budget allows, until the presentation is finalized.

most websites do not require the same amount of concept-building as a presentation.
almost all our clients fall into one or more of these groups:

  • they have a bad website - it's either out of date, an eyesore, or both.
  • they have an existing business that needs a web presence.
  • they have a new business or product (sometimes e-commerce based) to bring to the web.

as you can imagine, these different typs of situations require different approaches and budgets. that's why we manage the development process from start to finish, making sure that our clients gather the source materials we need, the message they want to convey, and the image they want to present.
